Just booked tickets to LA yesterday, where we'll (Jen, Jasmine, Angela and I) begin our journey around the west coast of America, to the east and then London and Paris! I'm so excited for this trip I could cry until December.

You'd think that having had a blog for over three years, I would have learnt how to post on a semi-regular basis. Nup.

1 - Skincare haul from Escentual (they were doing a third off French skincare), Rimmel Apocalips in Stella, Cereal magazine (my latest publication love) and new runners, Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+. I was about to run out of my favourite lipbalm, Nuxe Rêve de Miel (I've finished it now) so I bought two backups.
2 - Rimmel Apocalips. The applicator has a little well built in so you can apply the product all over your lips without having to redip it back into the tube.
3 - Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse. Smells so bloody good, I want the perfume of it.
4 - Cereal.
5 - Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+.
6 - I took apart a YSL Touche Eclat. This is what it looks like.
7 - Found four Ikea pencils in one bag.
8 - Jane and Tina's birthday draaaanx.
9 - I sprained my ankle. Had to wear some emergency spare feet.
10 - Topshop junk food socks I wore to bed while nursing my ankle.

Demonstrating some commitment for y'all.

This is the second week of the challenge. I don't have many foundations (only three and a tinted moisturiser) so I'm sticking with the same foundation this week. Same with powder, only because I want to finish it. I don't often use eyeshadow (you know, with only 15 minutes to get ready I only hope to get my face on) so the real challenge this week will be to use them. Ever since I got Burberry Earthy I haven't used Douceur so it'll be interesting to see how I get on with that.

Hamilton Island

I'm back from my mini-break in mini-paradise. Four nights on Hamilton Island after summer school. I've always had an aversion to beaches. Not because I don't like swimming - it's mainly the people who go to beaches. Catseye Beach on the island was pretty much deserted, as was Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island. We spent almost every night in front of the TV. We (Jane, Jasmine and I) have developed a taste for My Kitchen Rules, as in: Hey, so we'll get back to the apartment at quarter past seven to catch MKR? My life is an embarrassment.

Day 1 - We settled into our holiday apartment. The view was pretty spectacular. We went down to the beach before taking a dip in the apartment pool and spa.

Day 2 - We took a half day trip to Whitehaven Beach. The sand was so fine and the water was warm and crystal clear. I would go daily if I had access. Apparently the sand from the beach was used to make the lens for the Hubble Telescope. A little fun fact for y'all. The rest of the day was spent in the pools. We spent the afternoon in a pool, then as the sun was about to set we went to One Tree Hill to watch the sunset.

13 - bleak weather conditions as we sailed to the reef / 14, 15 & 16 - leaving Hamilton Island marina / 17 - some fish and a snorkeller / 18 - Hardy Reef (I clearly can't keep still enough to take a proper panorama. Doesn't stop me from doing so though.) / 19 - some coral, innit? / 20 - Jane felt a little seasick and had to hold onto the next seat. I perfected my Terry Richardson thumbs up / 21 - gronk friends / 22 - sea spray is not my friend / 23 - sea spray is not Jasmine's friend either.
Day 3 - Knowing that the GBR is dying we decided to pay it a visit before it's too late. We snorkelled for a bit in Hardy Reef. As we were about to jump in the water we saw a turtle and Jane asked 'Is it real?!'. Never going to let her live that one down. I think the part we were allowed to snorkel in was stressed out because a lot of the coral was bleached. The fish were pretty cool. I'm almost certain a fish tried to attack me. I lost the back of my earring, an elastic band and a bobby pin. Hope those fish don't die.

24 - view from the lookout (second highest point on island) / 25 - again, but with Jane taking a photo / 26 - I slipped on the way down / 27 - Catseye Beach at low tide ft. Jasmine taking a panorama. Our apartment was on the third storey of the middle building. / 28 - a crab / 29 - Of Montreal on Nick Jr. / 30 - the flight back.
Day 4 - This was the only day we slept in (previous mornings we had to wake up at 7-7:30 to catch the boats out to Whitehaven and the reef). We went on a hike to the second highest point on the island and the view was quite spectacular. It was a little strange seeing frogs on our way up (and down), considering there wasn't really a source of water. We were planning to go kayaking in the evening but turns out it's a high tide activity and it was low tide in the afternoon. The afternoon was spent checking out what was at the bottom of the beach. I'm not going to lie - I was pretty surprised. There was a lot of broken coral pieces, a lot of fish and crabs.

Day 5 - We got up super early to kayak at 8:30. We saw another turtle! After a quick dip in a pool we went to pack and check out.

Blogging as procrastination... from blogging. I have to write a blog for Summer school but I'm not getting any blog feels right now.

I apologise for the poor quality. I should probably move my mirror from the darkest corner of my room. It doesn't really help that the window is behind me in all these shots.

In the first shot (sneaky spectacles shot *wink*) I am wearing a vintage dress and Theyskens' Theory heels. I was going to a 21st. The theme was 'famous'. There are stars on the sleeves and stars are famous...

I was planning to wear the second outfit to Vivian's super casual birthday dinner (Equipment shirt, Bonds skirt and Converse sneakers) but then quickly changed into the third (Fred Perry striped shirt with Kathmandu jacket over everything) before I left. A silk shirt is not casual enough, obviously.

It's a little hard to blog when 1) I'm doing nothing worthwhile and 2) I don't have an SD card. Oh, and 3) I'm attending Summer school.

1 – Bought some tea. Yum yum yum. I also got this infuser with it.
2 – Diptyque fragrances from Vivian as a birthday present.
3 – Jo Malone Wild Bluebell for myself.
4-6 – Savoury waffles (with puff pastry haha). The filling is ricotta, tomato as well as green beans and silverbeet from our garden. I bought my waffle maker from Woollies for only $10!
7 – Liberty x Nike runners which were on sale ;)
8 – Tried on some sunnies at DJ's I want to purchase.
9 – Dying from the amount of readings I had to do.

To break the monotony of the holidays (watching tv serials day in, day out and grazing constantly, not that I mind it) and to prevent my brain from rotting entirely, I bought a sewing machine to work on some projects. This leather clutch is my first project. It's not quite finished but it's almost done.

If you can tell, the arm strap comes through from the back and kind of closes it. However, I didn't take into account how supple the kangaroo leather would be so it's a little flimsy at the moment.

Also! I've almost finished using this Moleskine. I bought it in April '09.

Essentials. I finally replaced my wallet of a billion years.

This is what I wore to Radiohead on Monday.

shoes - Repetto, jumpsuit - Equipment, cardigan - Giordano (lol), bag - vintage

I also wore this bangle which I picked up from the hardware store for $2.
I recorded some videos (sneaky and naughty hehe) but my phone kept running out of space (even after I deleted podcasts and a billion apps) so there are some cuts. I also accidentally deleted Nude. My tears are pretty much endless.

All in all the concert wasn't amazing. It wasn't really worth the price (um hello Mariah Carey tickets start at $99 and it's Mariah) especially considering how far back we were seated. The visuals were amazing though. I mainly recorded for the visuals. I would like to consider it 'visual research' even though uni's over.

Food

Didn't quite think through joining the gym properly, I did it only for completely selfish reasons (I want to look good in nice clothes - thanks Rick Owens). My legs, as a consequence, have been sore for the past two days after body pump but my new phone and perfume have kind of sweetened the deal for me. It was love at first whiff - this unisex fragrance is perfect for the upcoming months.

I apologise for my absence, but let's just say in summary I've been turning my life around. Finished off my assessments for the last half of the semester, scored myself an internship (finally) and joined then gym. I think I mentioned previously how I don't set new years resolutions because they always set me up for disappointment when December comes around, but getting fit and finding an internship were two goals I had in mind in January so I guess this December won't be too bad.

When does the sale season end (posts soon)? I'm constantly poor. I think for the rest of this year I'll endeavour to find a new job. One which lets me wear nail polish.

To say my time management skills require a little refining would be an understatement. Assessment period has crept up on me and now I find myself bogged down once again. The good is that the upcoming week began with Seekae and Patrick Wolf and the bad is... the work I have left until now.

I'd seen Seekae before so I knew they'd put on a fairly good show. They were better than they were at the Opera House. Something about live drums just gets me, ya know? The only thing was that there were a bunch of drunks flopping all around the place. I was ready to start getting physical. By physical I mean tipping them off balance so they'd topple like dominoes into each other. I ain't gonna lie, the drummer looks a little like Daniel Brühl.

Patrick Wolf popped up on my radar many moons ago but I'd never seen him live before now. My gawd, he was phenomenal. Usually I expect artists to sound a little different to their records, but Patrick's voice is even better in person and with a personality to match. Dying. I loved that he performed so many of his old songs. I was in Freak Out Central when he started playing Tristan. Also, I didn't expect him to be so tall. He's actually a giant.

Summer made an unscheduled appearance the other day so I wore a dress in celebration. I wasn't kidding when I said I wear my Harrington all the time - so much so that the cost per wear is probably nearing the negatives.
