hey

This post has taken so long to get up because I've been too lazy to go upstairs to the scanner (read: I've been in bed watching Six Feet Under).

I've got a little less than two weeks at my disposal before uni starts, and my post-Winter-class break kicked off with a trip to Cockatoo Island for the 18th Biennale. I didn't check everything out because I thought I'd be late for work (I wasn't) but it runs until September so I have plenty of time to return. I think it was because we visited on a Saturday but I don't remember having to wait in lines to see certain works.

Having spent the most time at Cockatoo Island (thanks to Design Camp last year), I led the troop (of two others) upper level of the island.

Fanta dyed silk. It's kind of scary to think that the artificial colouring in Fanta is so potent that silk can be dyed.

We entered the Mould Loft (where I spent too many hours spent in there working through design challenges).

Wai Lam and Jane.

One of my favourite works from this year's Biennale. By Li Hongbo.

This kinetic and aural outdoor installation by Tiffany Singh was another favourite.

Water fog in the chasm between the Turbine Hall and the cliff face of the upper storey of the island. By Fujiko Nakaya.

Stupidly, I thought the fog would stay in the chasm but then it started coming at us. It was like something straight out of a sci-fi film. Here's Wai Lam.

...and Jane.

This installation by Philip Beesley had a line. Unfortunately I didn't have the patience to wait to get in, maybe next time.

Dune by Daan Roosegaarde located in the Dog Leg Tunnel is an interactive installation which reacts to sound and motion of people walking past.

We took the ferry back to Circular Quay to have ice cream, then lunch. Perfect Winter's day.

Sometimes I forget how pretty our harbour is. I was discussing with Jane how in comparison to the Thames and the River Seine, our harbour is actually gorgeous.

Winter class is over. Intense three weeks yo.

Last week I went to the Flight of the Conchords concerts. Anyone who doesn't like them needs to reevaluate their lives. They were unbelievably good.

I shamelessly recorded pretty much the entire concert so I can relive the experience later. Here's a clip of my favourite song by them, Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room). Jermaine announced the song like 'Most beautiful girl bracket in the room close bracket. It's really important to close the brackets...'. Everything loses its comedic value when I say it. I apologise in advance for my giggling throughout the videos. I can't help that they're funny.

Uniform

Late nights (Tour de France) and early mornings (class) make a bad combination. I'm never fully awake before noon and when I'm strapped for time I don't really want to think about what I'm going to wear. Although I do try to plan ahead I always fall back to this uniform of button down shirt, Harrington, jeans and boots. Sometimes I switch it up with my creepers but they're so chunky they could pass for boots from afar.

Jeans and shirt - Uniqlo (I'm sure you've seen them a thousand times before), shoes - Acne, jacket - Fred Perry and tote - Marc by Marc Jacobs (from Vivian)

I don't have work for a week (fo realz this time) so I celebrated by painting my nails with one of my favourite shades - Real Deal by Kit.

Since winter class started I haven't had much time to do anything except sleep and eat. Now that the Tour de France has begun, I've said goodbye to sleep as well. I'm not yet ready to say farewell to food yet (will I ever be?) (never.) because I need something to fuel me in this time of crisis/intense study.

I'm finally sick of my bob and I've been growing out my hair but Winter's been pretty hard on it. Because I'm not cutting my hair every two months now, it's been feeling like straw as of late. I found the block of Jungle conditioner I bought in London hiding behind my makeup brushes the other day when I was about to wash them. I had previously used this with great results. My hair cried with joy upon the discovery.

Lush recommends to 'make sure your hair and the bar are wet, slide along from root to tip and rinse' however that'll mean the bar will disintegrate into mush in the shower. What I do is shave off from the bar and melt it in water, pour that mixture into an old bottle/jar and store the remaining bar in greaseproof paper in a dry place. I shaved off between 1/3 to 1/4 of the bar (let's say 2/7) and you get roughly 250mL of conditioner. It was £2.95 in London, roughly $4.50 for almost a litre of conditioner. Bargain. Plus, your hair will smell like fruit salad. I like my conditioner really thick but you can always thin it down if ya want.

I was procrastinating the other day and fixed up all my tags. Stupid tags (much to my embarrassment) were removed and so now the Tags page is up again.
