Because trials/HSC are right on our doorsteps I've made two mixes. One to relax, the other to motivate. It took so much time trying to cut down the songs. You should listen to them in order, this especially applies to the 'motivate' mix.
I apologise for the out of focus middle, I couldn't be bothered taking a good photo. Also, admire that chipped nail polish!
A bunch of slow songs to block out the chaos outside or to drown out the noise in your head. Note – Sebastian is the piano version of Aways Summer. OT, Njósnavélin reminds me of the time Jane and I went to the aquarium and sat in front of the giant glass watching the fish swim past for half an hour. I suppose this mixtape is a little more personal and sentimental compared to the 'motivate' mix. I wanted to limit both mixtapes to 14 songs each but Craig Armstrong's Portuguese Love Theme really belongs here. The problem with it is just that those Colin Firth scenes in Love Actually really get to me and they're kind of distracting when you're trying to study. Here's the link anyway.
The songs on this mix are a little more upbeat. We begin with Koji Kondo's Super Mario Bros. which kind of explodes like an aural firework. Who doesn't like to think of Mario and his adventures when doing their work? Not I. The mix progresses with slower tempo songs so you can get yo' study on before you hear Moz asking you to give you what he wants. It's kind of apt because you can kind of apply 'Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want' to that ridiculously high ATAR you want at the end of the year. The final song, a personal favourite of mine, is These New Puritan's Navigate which they remixed for Hedi Slimane's Dior Homme ss07 show. It's 15 minutes long and reminds me of rushing from Central station to NAS. It also gets me in the mood to give some 'fuck off, I am in no mood to talk to you' attitude (which is often).
The A Single Man OST is also suitable, but supplying an album you can buy/download is not really fun. (Although I have uploaded it to my mediafire...)
